What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect and prevent spam.

An anonymized string (hash) from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes publicly visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site may download and extract location data from images.

Contact Forms

We may store information submitted through contact forms for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information for marketing purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies. These are for convenience, so you don’t need to re-enter your details the next time you comment. These cookies last for one year.

When visiting the login page, a temporary cookie is set to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded once you close your browser.

Upon logging in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days, screen preference cookies last one year. If “Remember Me” is selected, the login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

When editing or publishing an article, a cookie is stored in your browser. It holds no personal data, only the post ID of the article you edited, and expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on Mangator.com may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if the visitor has visited those websites directly.

These third-party sites may collect data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor interaction with their content — especially if you are logged in to those services.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools to understand how visitors use our website, in order to improve performance and user experience.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your personal data with third parties unless required by law, or for spam protection and analytics purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, it and its metadata are stored indefinitely to recognize and auto-approve future comments.

For registered users (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their profiles. All users can view, edit, or delete their data at any time (username cannot be changed). Site admins can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data we hold, including data you provided. You can also request erasure of your data, excluding any we’re obliged to keep for legal or security reasons.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
